Davao Region Recorded the Fastest Growth in the Value of Production in Agriculture and Fisheries in 2022 at 3.4 percent

The total value of production in agriculture and fisheries at constant 2018 prices was valued at PhP 1.77 trillion in 2022. Among regions outside the National Capital Region (NCR), the highest share was recorded in Central Luzon at 13.2 percent. This was followed by Northern Mindanao at 10.3 percent share and Western Visayas with 10.0 percent share.

In terms of annual growth, the fastest was recorded in Davao Region at 3.4 percent in 2022. Other regions which posted increases were the following:

a. Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), 2.5 percent;
b. Central Luzon, 2.0 percent;
c. Bicol Region, 1.8 percent;
d. SOCCSKSARGEN, 1.6 percent;
e. Ilocos Region, 1.3 percent;
f. Cagayan Valley, 0.4 percent;
g. CALABARZON, 0.4 percent; and
h. Zamboanga Peninsula, 0.1 percent.

Meanwhile, contractions in the value of production in agriculture and fisheries were registered in the following regions:

a. Eastern Visayas, -8.0 percent;
b. Central Visayas, -5.5 percent;
c. MIMAROPA Region, -3.5 percent;
d. Cordillera Administrative Region, -3.0 percent;
e. Caraga, -2.7 percent;
f. Western Visayas, -2.3 percent; and
g. Northern Mindanao, -0.8 percent.

At constant 2018 prices, the total value of crop production amounted to PhP 1.0 trillion in 2022. The top three regions with the highest contribution in the value of crop production were registered in Northern Mindanao with 11.7 percent share, Cagayan Valley with 10.4 percent share, and Western Visayas with 9.8 percent share. The value of crop production in Bicol Region increased by 2.6 percent, which was the highest among the regions. Expansions were also noted in Cagayan Valley at 1.7 percent, Northern Mindanao at 1.2 percent, and Ilocos Region at 1.0 percent. (Tables 1.1 and 1.3)

In 2022, the total value of livestock production at constant 2018 prices was valued at PhP 0.25 trillion. Central Visayas accounted for the highest share in the total value of production at 12.4 percent. In terms of annual growth, higher increments in the value of livestock production were registered in Central Luzon at 17.7 percent and Zamboanga Peninsula at 10.5 percent. (Tables 1.1 and 1.3)

The total value of poultry production at constant 2018 prices amounted to PhP 0.25 trillion in 2022. Central Luzon topped in the value of poultry production with 28.1 percent share to the total value of production in 2022. This was followed by CALABARZON with 18.9 percent share. On the other hand, double-digit expansions in the value of poultry production were noted in the annual growth in the following regions:

a. SOCCSKSARGEN, 17.3 percent;
b. MIMAROPA Region, 13.1 percent
c. Central Visayas, 11.3 percent; and
d. Ilocos Region, 10.5 percent.

For fisheries, the total value of production at constant 2018 prices amounted to PhP 0.26 trillion in 2022. The biggest contributor to the total value of fisheries production was recorded in Central Luzon at 17.0 percent share. Western Visayas came next with 11.2 percent share. For the annual growth, increases were highest in Davao Region at 63.2 percent, and BARMM and SOCCSKSARGEN at 10.6 percent each.
