PSA Kicks-off Provincial Product Accounts Compilation in the National Capital Region; Conducts Briefing-Workshop with Stakeholders

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) kicked-off the compilation of the Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) in the National Capital Region (NCR) through the conduct of a briefing-workshop with stakeholders held at the PSA 23-Storey Building on 20 February 2024 (Batch 1) and 22 February 2024 (Batch 2).

The briefing-workshop was conducted to enjoin the stakeholders in NCR to support the initiatives being conducted by the PSA towards the institutionalization of PPA in the country, particularly in their significant role in the provision of data for the ongoing pilot implementation of the compilation of PPA in NCR. The activity also aimed to inform the stakeholders on the data requirements for PPA and to gather information on the economic situation of the cities in the region.

Stakeholders from cities and municipality in NCR, composed of representatives from different offices of the Local Government Units (LGUs), such as the City Planning and Development Departments, Business Permits and Licensing Offices, City Councils, together with other agencies, namely, Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Trade and Industry, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Department of Tourism, Department of Transportation, Department of Public Works and Highways, and Commission on Higher Education participated in the activity.

Regional Director Paciano B. Dizon of the PSA Regional Statistical Services Office (RSSO) in NCR emphasized the importance of more disaggregated data for sound and better-informed decision and policy making at the local level. He called for strong partnership and continuous collaboration between the PSA and the stakeholders for the successful compilation of PPA in NCR.

The activity was facilitated by the Subnational Economic Accounts Division of the Macroeconomic Accounts Service of PSA, in coordination with the PSA RSSO and Provincial Statistical Offices in NCR.
