PSA Enjoins All Agencies to Participate in the Celebration of the 34th National Statistics Month

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) issues Memorandum Circular No. 2023-12 enjoining all agencies of the government, local government units, academic institutions, state universities and colleges, and the private sector at the national and subnational levels to actively participate in and support the celebration of the 34th National Statistics Month (NSM) in October 2023.

The Memorandum Circular, signed by Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan, Chairperson of the PSA Board, calls for submission of detailed list of agency-proposed NSM activities to be conducted in October 2023. Likewise, participating organizations, universities/colleges, and units of the government are requested to display the 34th NSM streamers/tarpaulin in the building façade throughout the month of October 2023.

Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647, "Declaring the Month of October of Every Year as the National Statistics Month,” the NSM is observed annually nationwide. The NSM aims to: 1) promote, enhance, and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of the society; and 2) elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country.

In October 2023, the 34th NSM will carry the theme “Accelerating Progress: Promoting Data and Statistics for Healthy Philippines” which emphasizes the importance of data and statistics in enhancing health outcomes. The Philippines’ initiative to speed up the resolution of health system issues and challenges and promote a healthier populace is aimed at accelerating the nation's socioeconomic development with the use of quality health and health-related statistics.

The Philippine Statistical System enjoins the general public to participate in the nationwide celebration of the 34th NSM in October 2023.
