The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) grants clearance for the conduct of the 2023 Input-Output Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (IOSPBI).
This survey will be conducted simultaneously with the 2023 Census of Philippine Business and Industry (CPBI) by PSA. The 2023 IOSPBI sample establishments are subsamples of the 2023 CPBI which comprise approximately 25 percent of the 2023 CPBI total sample establishments.
The 2023 IOSPBI is the 9th of the input-output survey series conducted by PSA. The data collected will be used to build the input structure and to construct the distribution of output required in the compilation of the 2023 Supply and Use Table (SUT) and Input-Output (I-O) Table. These tables will serve as benchmark in the next overall revision and rebasing of the Philippine System of National Accounts (PSNA).
The major data items to be collected in the survey include the following:
a. General information about the establishment (e.g., business and registered name, business tax identification number, business address, etc.)
b. Economic activity or business (e.g., main economic and other activities of the establishment)
c. Revenue, expense, and inventories by product of businesses and industries nationwide
A total of PhP 46.7 million will be utilized to cover about 18,500 sample establishments nationwide. The distribution and collection of the questionnaires is scheduled from April to July 2024.
This survey was reviewed and cleared for conduct under the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS), a mechanism being implemented by the PSA by virtue of Rule 28 of Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act (RA) No. 10625 to:
a. Ensure sound design for data collection
b. Minimize the burden placed upon respondents
c. Effect economy in statistical data collection
d. Eliminate unnecessary duplication of statistical data collection efforts
e. Achieve better coordination of government statistical activities
In line with this, the PSA enjoins all sample establishments in the country to participate in the 2023 IOSPBI by providing truthful information.
