The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Board approved the Philippine Statistical Development Program (PSDP) 2023-2029 through PSA Board Resolution No. 02, series of 2024, “Approving the Philippine Statistical Development Program 2023-2029 and Endorsing to the Office of the President the Issuance of an Executive Order Adopting the Same.”

The PSDP is a mechanism for setting the directions, thrusts, and strategies of the Philippine Statistical System (PSS) for the medium-term. It contains priority statistical development programs and activities designed to provide vital information support to the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028, AmBisyon Natin 2040, 8-point Socioeconomic Agenda of the administration, and the Sustainable Development Goals, among others.

PSDP 2023-2029 envisions to provide an improved and sustained quality of life for all through a responsive, relevant, and innovative statistical system with a strengthened data ecosystem and enhanced data governance that provides quality statistics, as bases for evidence-based planning and decision-making.

It aims to achieve the following goals, namely:

  1. Accurate, relevant, timely, reliable, and accessible statistics for evidence-based decisions and policies.
  2. Increased awareness, understanding, appreciation, utilization, and trust of the general public on statistics.
  3. Technologically advanced data production and generation.
  4. Available and accessible more granular data.
  5. Increased utilization of non-traditional sources of data.

It is a product of collaborative effort and commitment of the members of the PSS, carried over through a series of consultation, discussions, and fora, involving the various statistical committees and other PSS stakeholders at both the national and local levels. It consists of 432 statistical development programs and activities covering economic, social, environmental, and multi-sectoral domains, spread over the seven-year period.

To encourage involvement and support from all government agencies, private organizations, academe, media, development partners, and others, in the implementation and adoption of statistical development programs, as well as enhance public awareness and support to the PSDP, the PSA will be holding a national dissemination forum on 06 March 2024.

The PSS, through the PSA, enjoins the public to support and cooperate in the implementation of programs and activities set forth in the PSDP 2023-2029.
