The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) granted clearance for the conduct of the 2022 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF) (Non-Household). This census is a regular undertaking by the PSA to determine the structural characteristics of the agriculture and fishery sectors in the country.

The 2022 CAF (Non Household) is a rider to the 2023 Updating of the List of Establishments. About 15,000 establishments, government agencies, associations, institutions and international organizations will be covered in the census.

The data from the census will provide basic data on the agriculture, aquaculture and fishing characteristics for use in the government’s national and local development planning.

Major data items to be collected in the census are the following:

  1. Number of establishments/cooperative/institutions operating agricultural, aquaculture, and fishing activities;

  2. Legal form of organization under which the agricultural, aquaculture, and fishing activities are undertaken;

  3. Type of agricultural activity operated such as growing of crops and raising of livestock and/or poultry including culturing of insects/worms, and the type of fishery activity such as aquaculture, municipal fishing and/or commercial fishing;

  4. Characteristics of agricultural holdings, aquaculture, and fishing operations; and

  5. Number and type of machineries, equipment, and facilities, number of workers/laborers and research and development personnel, kind of services/assistances received/availed, number of organic farms and the kinds of challenges/problems encountered.

Questionnaires will be distributed from 02 May to 31 July 2023. A total of PhP 49 million will be utilized in the census with the results expected to be released on 30 November 2023.

The undertaking was reviewed and cleared for conduct under the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS), a mechanism being implemented by the PSA by virtue of Rule 28 of Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 10625 to:

  1. ensure sound design for data collection;

  2. minimize the burden placed upon respondents;

  3. effect economy in statistical data collection;

  4. eliminate unnecessary duplication of statistical data collection efforts; and

  5. achieve better coordination of government statistical activities.

In line with this, the PSA enjoins all establishments, government agencies, associations, institutions and organizations to support the nationwide conduct of the 2022 CAF (Non Household) by providing the required information. An authorized PSA interviewer will visit the entities to distribute and collect the questionnaires.

Meanwhile, the 2022 CAF for households will also be undertaken by PSA in September to October 2023.

For further information on SSRCS, please contact the Statistical Standards Division of the Standards Service with telephone numbers (02) 8376-1928 and (02) 8376-1931, and email address ssd.staff@psa.gov.ph.
