  1. CPI of Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT): National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

    The seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT in NCR decreased to 150.3 in August from 150.9 in July. On the other hand, the seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT in AONCR slightly went up to 153.2 in August from 153.1 last month.

    For NCR, prices of FBT were pushed down by the seasonal factors in August while in AONCR, prices were pushed up by the seasonal factors.

    Compared to July 2001, seasonally adjusted month-on-month inflation of FBT items in NCR declined to -0.4 percent in August from 1.3 percent in July. Meanwhile, in AONCR, seasonally adjusted FBT items moved up but at a slower rate of 0.1 percent this month from 0.5 percent a month ago.

  2. CPI of Non-FBT Items: National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

The seasonally adjusted CPI of non-FBT items in NCR and AONCR picked up to 175.4 and 175.5 in August, respectively from their July level of 174.7. Prices of non-FBT items in NCR were pushed up by the seasonal factors during the month while that for AONCR, prices were not affected by the seasonal factors.

The month-on-month inflation of the seasonally adjusted CPI for non-FBT items in NCR decelerated to 0.4 percent in August from 0.8 percent in July. On the other hand, prices of non-FBT items in AONCR increased to 0.5 percent this month from 0.3 percent last month.
