The Memorandum Circular, signed by Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto M. Likewise, participating organizations, universities/colleges and units of the government are requested to display the 30th NSM/14th NCS streamers/tarpaulin in the building façade throughout the month of October 2019.

Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647, "Declaring the Month of October of Every Year as the National Statistics Month,” the NSM is annually observed nationwide. The NSM aims to: (a) promote, enhance, and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of the society; and (b) elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country.

Meanwhile, pursuant to PSA Board Resolution No. 01, Series of 2017 – 073, “Approving the Conduct of the National Convention on Statistics Every Three Years,” the NCS is conducted to: 1) provide a forum for exchanging ideas and experiences in the field of statistics and for discussing recent statistical developments and prevailing issues and problems of the Philippine Statistical System (PSS); and 2) elicit the cooperation and support of statisticians and professionals in related fields from the government, academe and private sector towards a more responsive statistical system.

In October 2019, the 30th NSM and 14th NCS will carry the theme “Data Innovation: Key to a Better Nation.” This signifies the importance of innovation in the provision of quality statistics which will help policymakers design responsive and evidence-based plans and programs towards a better nation.

The PSS enjoins the general public to participate in the nationwide celebration of the 30th NSM in October 2019. Statisticians and statistical practitioners from both the government and private sector, academicians, students, media, and development partners are encouraged to attend the 14th NCS on 01-03 October 2019.
