Through the collective efforts and strengthened partnership between the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Municipal Government of Sual, Pangasinan, a ceremonial turnover of the 2021 Pilot Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) data has been successfully commenced. The said activity took place on 10 May 2023 at the Sual Municipal Hall, Pangasinan, and was attended by distinguished officials and personnel from both parties.

Atty. Sheila O. De Guzman, Regional Director (RD) of PSA Region I, opened the event with a heartfelt appreciation to the Municipal Government of Sual for participating in the 2021 Pilot CBMS implementation. Among the nine (9) pilot areas, the said locality funded its own CBMS operations with the hopes to obtain a high-quality local-level data. RD De Guzman also emphasized the significance of the CBMS data for policy makers as this will serve as their basis for crafting more appropriate programs, projects, and activities that will strongly support the municipality’s socioeconomic growth and development.

PSA Assistant National Statistician Kristine Joy S. Briones presented the remarkable highlights of the 2021 Pilot CBMS. After months of hard work, the PSA was able to collect data from more than 37,000 individuals in 9,700 households.

During the ceremony, Engr. Reynaldo Michael Isidro E.M. Agoncillo representing Honorable Mayor Liseldo D.Q. Calugay acknowledged the importance of CBMS data and expressed a vision of its usage as an instrumental tool to better understand the need and priorities of their constituents. Such data will be of aid in formulating and implementing targeted programs and policies that reflects a proactive approach in uplifting the lives of its residents and making Sual an exemplary place to live in.

By utilizing the CBMS results in the sectors of Institutional, Economic Development, Social Services Environment Management, and Infrastructure, the municipality can make informed decisions, set strategic priorities, and allocate resources efficiently to address the specific needs of the community.
