Annual increase of CMRPI in NCR slows down in March 2019
The annual increment of Construction Materials Retail Price Index (CMRPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) eased to 1.9 percent in March 2019. Higher annual rates were recorded in February 2019 at 2.4 percent and in March 2018, 2.3 percent. Slower annual mark-ups were registered in the indices of carpentry materials at 2.5 percent; electrical materials, 1.4 percent; masonry materials, 4.5 percent; painting materials and related compounds, 1.0 percent; plumbing materials, 0.7 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials, 1.7 percent. On the other hand, a higher annual growth of 1.6 percent was observed in tinsmithry materials index (see Table 2).

CMRPI in NCR generally remains stable in March 2019
The CMRPI in NCR posted an increase of 0.03 percent in March 2019. The indices of carpentry materials, plumbing materials, and tinsmithry materials inched up by 0.1 percent in March 2019, from a zero growth in the previous month. On the other hand, the increment in the index of painting materials and related compounds decelerated to 0.1 percent. The indices of masonry materials and miscellaneous construction materials were still on a downtrend, posting 0.3 percent and 0.01 percent declines, respectively. The index of electrical materials exhibited a zero growth during the month (see Table 3).
Prices of fabricated products such as common wire nails, sand paper, G.I. pipes and elbow went up during the period. On the contrary, lower prices were noted in sand and gravel.
