The year-on-year increment of the Construction Materials Retail Price Index (CMRPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) slowed down to 1.4 percent in June 2016. It was pegged at 1.5 percent in May 2016 and 0.1 percent in June 2015. The annual increases in painting materials and related compounds index decelerated to 1.3 percent; plumbing materials index, 1.1 percent; electrical materials index, 0.6 percent; and tinsmithry materials index, 0.5 percent. Higher annual rates were however, observed in the indices of carpentry materials at 2.1 percent; masonry materials, 3.5 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials, 2.0 percent (Table 2).

Month-on-Month
On a monthly basis, the CMRPI in NCR moved up at a slower pace of 0.3 percent in June 2016. Last month, the growth was 0.5 percent. Increases in the indices of carpentry materials eased to 0.4 percent; masonry materials, 0.5 percent. A higher monthly growth of 0.7 percent was however, noticed in the indices of tinsmithry materials and miscellaneous construction materials. Moreover, a faster rate of 0.1 percent was registered in the indices of electrical materials, painting materials and related compounds and plumbing materials. (Table 3).
Plywood, lawanit, common wire nails, hinges, safety switch, cement, gravel, sand, concrete hollow blocks, paints, G.I. sheets and steel bars were priced higher during the month. On the other hand, lower prices were observed in paint thinner and selected PVC pipes.
