On a monthly basis, the retail price index of selected construction materials in NCR dropped to -0.1 percent in July from 0.2 percent in June. This was due to the price declines posted in the indexes of carpentry and miscellaneous construction materials at -0.1 percent and -2.0 percent, respectively. In addition, price hike in masonry materials index slowed down to 0.2 percent from 0.6 percent. Meanwhile, no price movements were seen in the indexes of electrical, painting materials and related compounds, plumbing and tinsmithry materials.
Downward price adjustments were noted in plywood and steel bars.

The annual growth of the retail prices of selected construction materials in NCR increased to 3.4 percent in July, the same rate recorded last month. A higher annual price increment was registered in carpentry materials at 1.0 percent from 0.4 percent; masonry materials, 2.0 percent from 1.9 percent; and painting materials and related compounds, 2.8 percent from 2.4 percent. Slowdowns were however also noticed in the annual price increases of electrical, plumbing, tinsmithry, and miscellaneous construction materials index.
