The month-on-month growth rate of the retail price index of selected construction materials in NCR went up to 0.2 percent in July from -0.1 percent in June. A 0.2 percent monthly increment was recorded in the indices of carpentry materials, electrical materials and tinsmithry materials. This was higher than their corresponding last month's rates of -0.5 percent, -0.3 percent and 0.1 percent. Moreover, the increase in painting materials and related compounds index was also higher at 0.6 percent from 0.4 percent. The monthly movement of miscellaneous construction materials index remained at 0.1 percent while that for plumbing materials index declined to -0.1 percent from 0.2 percent.
Price hikes were noted in selected lumber, nails, insulated wires, paints, sand paper, corrugated GI sheets and steel bars. On the other hand, price reductions were observed in cement and GI pipes.

The annual growth rate of the retail price index of selected construction materials in NCR picked up to 4.5 percent in July from 4.2 percent in June. The annual gain was higher in carpentry materials index at 6.9 percent in July from 6.6 percent in June; electrical materials, 4.9 percent from 4.7 percent; painting materials and related compounds, 5.6 percent from 5.0 percent; tinsmithry materials, 2.9 percent from 2.7 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials, 1.7 percent from -0.4 percent. Annual increment was however, slower in plumbing materials index at 4.9 percent from 5.0 percent while that for masonry materials index further dropped to -1.3 percent from -0.8 percent.
