Year-on-Year

The year-on-year growth of the retail price index of selected construction materials in the National Capital Region (NCR) increased to 5.0 percent in July from 4.7 percent in June. The annual change in masonry materials and plumbing materials indices correspondingly advanced 13.9 percent and 1.9 percent from their respective last month's rates of 6.4 percent and 1.8 percent. Slower annual rates were however recorded in all the other commodity groups with tinsmithry materials index still recording a decline of -2.1 percent from -1.9 percent.

Month-on-Month

The monthly retail price increases of selected construction materials in NCR decelerated to 0.5 percent in July from 1.9 percent in June. The indices of carpentry materials, painting materials and related compounds and tinsmithry materials posted negative rate of -0.1 percent during the month. Moreover, the increment in electrical materials index slowed down to 0.1 percent from 5.3 percent. On the other hand, an uptick of 6.7 percent was seen in masonry materials index from 4.3 percent. A zero growth was observed in plumbing materials and miscellaneous construction materials indices.

Price reductions were noted in selected plywood, hinges, paints and timsmithry materials. However, price increases were observed in cement, gravel, sand and hollow blocks.
