The year-on-year growth of the Construction Materials Retail Price Index (CMRPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) picked up 1.5 percent in July. Last month, it grew by 1.1 percent and in July 2013, 1.8 percent. A higher annual gain was posted in carpentry materials index at 1.3 percent; electrical materials index, 2.3 percent; painting materials and related compounds index, 3.0 percent; and tinsmithry materials index, 3.4 percent. That for the index of masonry materials however, eased to 2.0 percent. Annual declines were still registered in the indices of plumbing materials and miscellaneous construction materials at -1.0 percent and -3.4 percent, respectively.

Compared from a month ago level, the CMRPI in NCR went up 0.6 percent in July. Faster annual increases were noted in the indices of carpentry materials at 0.6 percent; electrical materials, 0.9 percent; masonry materials, 0.1 percent; painting materials and related compounds, 1.5 percent; and plumbing materials, 0.1 percent. The monthly growth of tinsmithry materials remained at 0.4 percent while a drop of 0.6 percent was recorded in miscellaneous construction materials index.
Price increments were seen in plywood, nails, electrical wires, cement, hollow blocks, paints and sanitary fixtures. On the other hand, downward price adjustments were observed in corrugated GI sheets and steel bars.
