The annual hike in the construction materials retail price index (CMRPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) remained at its previous month’s rate of 1.8 percent. Higher annual increment was seen in painting materials and related compounds index at 0.8 percent in August from 0.6 percent in July and plumbing materials index, 1.8 percent from 1.6 percent. On the other hand, slowdowns were recorded in electrical materials index at 1.2 percent from 1.3 percent and masonry materials index, 5.6 percent from 5.9 percent. In addition, an annual decline of 1.7 percent was posted in miscellaneous construction materials index from -1.2 percent. Those for carpentry and tinsmithry materials indices remained at their respective previous month’s rates of 1.1 percent and 6.0 percent.

Month-on-Month
The CMRPI in NCR went down by 0.1 percent in August from 0.2 percent in July. A 0.1 percent drop was observed in the indices of electrical and plumbing materials from their previous month’s rates of zero growth and 0.2 percent, respectively and miscellaneous construction materials index, -1.0 percent from 0.4 percent. Moreover, the increase of 0.1 percent in carpentry and masonry materials indices was slower than their corresponding last month’s rates of 0.4 percent and 0.3 percent and painting materials and related compounds index, 0.3 percent from 0.4 percent. On the contrary, the index of tinsmithry materials advanced 0.2 percent from -0.4 percent.
Price add-ons were noted in selected lumber, plywood, cement, paint, hollow blocks, sand paper and GI pipes.
