The annual movement in the construction materials retail price index (CMRPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) grew by 3.9 percent in April from 3.8 percent in March. A higher annual gain was recorded in electrical materials index at 6.7 percent in April from 6.5 percent in March; masonry materials index, 16.0 percent from 15.1 percent; painting materials and related compounds index, 1.2 percent from 0.8 percent; and tinsmithry materials index, 6.0 percent from 5.5 percent. On the contrary, the annual increase in plumbing materials index eased to 1.5 percent from 1.6 percent while that for miscellaneous construction materials index was still on a decline at 3.3 percent from -1.8 percent. The carpentry materials index registered a zero annual growth during the month from 0.4 percent.

The monthly increment of the CMRPI in NCR at 0.3 percent was the same rate posted in March. The electrical materials index inched up by 0.5 percent in April from 0.1 percent in March; masonry materials index, 0.8 percent from -0.8 percent; and painting materials and related compounds index, 0.6 percent from -0.2 percent. However, a negative rate was still noticed in miscellaneous construction materials index at 0.1 percent from -0.3 percent. The carpentry and plumbing materials indices likewise dropped by 0.1 percent from 0.2 percent.

Price hikes were seen in selected electrical wires and wiring devices, cement, paints and related compounds.
