The Construction Materials Retail Price Index (CMRPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) picked up to 2.0 percent in October. It was 1.3 percent last month and 1.8 percent in October 2013. Annual gain was posted in the index of masonry materials at 9.0 percent. Slowdowns were noted in the indices of the following commodity groups: carpentry materials, 2.1 percent; electrical materials, 0.5 percent; painting materials and related compounds, 2.6 percent and tinsmithry materials, 2.8 percent. Meanwhile, the index of plumbing materials remained at -0.4 percent while that for miscellaneous construction materials index, -0.9 percent.

Measured from a month ago level, the CMRPI in NCR advanced 0.8 percent in October. The index of masonry materials in October increased by 8.0 percent; painting materials and related compounds index, 0.3 percent; plumbing materials index, 0.2 percent; miscellaneous construction materials index, 0.8 percent and carpentry materials index, 0.1 percent. On the contrary, declines were seen in the index of electrical materials at -0.1 percent and tinsmithry materials index, -0.8 percent.
Price increments were noticed in gravel, sand, sand paper, selected paints, tinting color for paints, faucet, shower valve, steel bars and wire nails. On the other hand, lower price quotations were noted in electrical wires, GI corrugated sheet and GI elbow.
