The month-on-month growth rate of the retail prices of selected construction materials in NCR went up at a slower pace of 0.3 percent in September from 0.4 in August. Prices of carpentry materials decreased to -0.7 percent in September from 0.3 percent in August. Moreover, price increases in electrical materials and masonry materials index correspondingly eased to 0.9 percent and 0.2 percent from 2.0 percent and 0.3 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, price increments in tinsmithry and miscellaneous construction materials index were higher at 0.4 percent and 2.8 percent, respectively from their corresponding last monthÒ³ rates of zero growth and 0.1 percent. Prices of painting materials and related compounds generally remained stable as the groupÒ³ index posted a zero growth.
Upward adjustments were observed in the prices of steel bars, machine bolts and nuts, GI rivet and washer. On the other hand, price reductions were seen in tanguile, plywood, plastic water closet fitting and GI pipes.

The annual price movement of the retail prices of selected construction materials in NCR continued to register a negative rate at 7.5 percent in September from -9.9 percent in August. The miscellaneous construction materials index moved at annual rate of -34.6 percent from -42.7 percent. In addition, price hike in carpentry materials index decelerated to 0.5 percent in September from 0.8 percent in August; masonry materials, 1.9 percent from 3.6 percent; painting materials and related compounds, 2.2 percent from 3.8 percent; and plumbing materials, 1.0 percent from 1.9 percent. Annual price gains in electrical and tinsmithry materials index were however correspondingly higher at 3.3 percent and 1.9 percent from 3.1 percent and 1.7 percent, respectively.
