· Producer Price Index (PPI) expands by two digits
Producer Price Index (PPI) for the manufacturing industry reflected a year-on-year increase of 13.8 percent in November 2006. Increases in actual prices can be observed in fifteen (15) major sectors, with electrical machinery continuing to post the highest increase of 92.4 percent. Four (4) other major sectors posted two-digit price increases, namely: leather products, footwear and wearing apparel, machinery excluding electrical, and rubber products. Refer to Tables 1 and 1-A.
On a monthly basis, PPI went down by 0.2 percent in November 2006. This was brought about by the price decreases reported by nine (9) major sectors led by petroleum products with a drop of 2.3 percent. Refer to Tables 1 and 1-B.

Weights for the PPI are based from the results of the 2003 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) for manufacturing establishments with average total employment (ATE) of 20 and over.
Data of non-responding sample establishments are estimated based on previous records and other available sources. Revisions to the preliminary estimates are done upon receipt of actual reports of late respondents.
