· Producer Price Index (PPI) posts two-digit growth in eight months
Producer Price Index (PPI) for the manufacturing industry continued to rise as it posted a two-digit growth of 15.5 percent in July 2006. This was brought about by the price increases reported by seventeen (17) major sectors, with two-digit growth in the following: electrical machinery, machinery excluding electrical, petroleum products, leather products, footwear and wearing apparel, rubber products, non-metallic mineral products and fabricated metal products. Refer to Tables 1 and 1-A.
On month-on-month basis, PPI reflected an increase of 1.1 percent in June 2006. Price increments were observed in fourteen (14) major sectors, led by petroleum products which contributed a significant increase of 7.1 percent. Refer to Tables 1 and 1-B.
· Response Rate
The response rate for July 2006 is 92.5 percent, which corresponds to the retrieval of 248 sample establishments' reports. Refer to Table 2.

· Technical Notes
Weights for the PPI are based from the results of the 2003 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) for manufacturing establishments with average total employment (ATE) of 20 and over.
Data of non-responding sample establishments are estimated based on previous records and other available sources. Revisions to the preliminary estimates are done upon receipt of actual reports of late respondents.
