GRPI in NCR picked up in February 2022

The annual growth of GRPI in NCR accelerated to 2.2 percent in February 2022, from 1.9 percent in January 2022. This month’s annual growth rate is also higher than the February 2021 annual increase of 1.6 percent. (Tables A and 2)

Annual increments were faster in the indices of the following commodity groups:

a. Food, 2.1 percent;
b. Mineral fuels, lubricants, and related materials, 20.5 percent;
c. Manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials, 1.4 percent; and
d. Miscellaneous manufactured articles, 0.5 percent.

On the other hand, the annual increment was lower in the index of beverages and tobacco at 2.8 percent. In addition, the crude materials, inedible except fuels index declined by -0.3 percent, from 0.1 percent in the previous month.

The rest of the commodity groups retained their January 2022 annual growth rates. (Table 2)
