CMWPI in NCR continued to pick up at a slower annual pace during the month
The annual rate of increase of CMWPI in NCR slowed down further to 7.0 percent in August 2022. Higher annual rate was posted in July 2022 at 8.7 percent. Its annual growth rate in August 2021 was recorded at 4.3 percent. (Tables A and 2)
The lower annual growth in CMWPI was still primarily brought about by the downtrend in reinforcing and structural steel at 10.7 percent in August 2022. Moreover, compared with their annual rates in July 2022, slower annual increments were posted in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month:
a. Plywood, 4.8 percent;
b. Lumber, 4.6 percent;
c. G.I. sheet, 3.6 percent;
d. Doors, jambs, and steel casement, 2.2 percent;
e. Electrical works, 7.5 percent; and
f. Fuels and lubricants, 30.3 percent.
Meanwhile, annual gains were higher in the indices of the following commodity groups:
a. Sand and gravel, 6.4 percent;
b. Concrete products and cement, 6.3 percent;
c. Hardware, 6.2 percent; and
d. Painting works, 7.1 percent.
The rest of the commodity groups either retained their previous month’s annual growth rates or had zero percent annual growths during the month. (Table 2)
