RENEWING THE TERM OF THE PHILIPPINE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (PCCI) AS  PRIVATE SECTOR REPRESENTATIVE TO THE EXECUTIVE BOARD

WHEREAS, Section 4 of Executive Order No. 121 states that the composition of the NSCB Executive Board include a private sector representative whose term shall be  for a period of three (3) years;

WHEREAS, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) is presently  the private sector representative to the NSCB Executive Board and its term has  expired;

WHEREAS, the PCCI,   a non-stock, non-profit and non-government organization of local chambers and industry associations   aims to provide a suitable environment for the growth and expansion of new and existing business;

WHEREAS, among its goals  are to assist in the formulation, development, implementation and evaluation of plans, policies, programs and other activities that will promote the interest of private business consistent with public welfare and the country’s economic development objectives and to conduct, assist and encourage the compilation of data, research and studies for use in the development of socio-economic plans, policies and programs and related activities;

WHEREAS,  considering the role of the PCCI as business advocate and economic counselor  and its commitment to foster a healthy Philippine economy, the NSCB-Technical Staff recommends the renewal of its term   as the private sector representative  to the Executive Board for another three years;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Executive Board approve the renewal of the term of the PCCI as the private sector representative to the Executive Board for a period of three years (from March 1999 to February 2002), as recommended by the NSCB-Technical Staff.
