Approving the Terms of Reference of the Regional, Provincial, City and Municipal Census Coordinating Boards in the Conduct of the 2007 Census of Population

APPROVING THE TERMS OF REFERENCE OF THE REGIONAL, PROVINCIAL,
CITY AND MUNICIPAL CENSUS COORDINATING BOARDS
IN THE CONDUCT OF THE 2007 CENSUS OF POPULATION

 WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 121, otherwise known as Reorganization Act of the Philippine Statistical System, declared that the National Statistics Office (NSO) shall be the major statistical agency responsible for generating general-purpose statistics and for undertaking such censuses and surveys as may be designated by the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB);
           
WHEREAS, there is a need to conduct the Census of Population in 2007 in order to update the information regarding the count of the population and some of its demographic and socio-economic characteristics;

WHEREAS, pursuant to the aforesaid need and Executive Order, the Census of Population (POPCEN) will be conducted in August 2007;

WHEREAS, pursuant to the provision of Batas Pambansa Blg. 72, the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) has been designated as the National Census Coordinating Board (NCCB) for the POPCEN 2007 as per NSCB Resolution No. 9, Series of 2007, to issue rules and regulations as may be necessary to ensure the successful conduct of this census;

WHEREAS, the Regional/Provincial/City/Municipal Census Coordinating Boards (R/P/C/MCCB) shall be created to assist the NSO with the facilities, publicity, and any assistance that it requires at the regional, provincial, city, and municipal levels in the conduct of the POPCEN 2007.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Board approve the Terms of Reference (TOR) and composition of the R/P/C/MCCB (Annex BR-07-2007-01).

BE IT RESOLVED FURTHER that resources to successfully accomplish the TOR be on a cost-sharing basis as may be deemed appropriate by parties concerned.
