APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE
2011 PHILIPPINE STANDARD OCCUPATIONAL CLASSIFICATION
 

WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 121, Reorganizing and Strengthening the
Philippine Statistical System and for Other Purposes
mandates the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) to prescribe uniform standards and classification systems in government statistics;

WHEREAS, standard classification systems are used to achieve uniformity and comparability of statistics generated at the national and international levels;

WHEREAS, one of the classification systems maintained by the NSCB is the Philippine Standard Occupational Classification (PSOC), which is based on the International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO) issued by the International Labor Organization (ILO);

WHEREAS, the PSOC was updated in 2002 to reflect new and emerging occupations in the country at the time;

WHEREAS, the ILO has released the 2008 ISCO which reflects new developments in occupations as well as improvements in light of experiences gained in using the 1988 ISCO;

WHEREAS,the NSCB Technical Committee on Statistical Standards and Classifications (TCSSC), through its Technical Working Group on Occupational Classification (TWGOC), has reviewed the changes in the 2008 ISCO for adaption in the PSOC;

WHEREAS, the TCSSC has approved for endorsement to the NSCB Executive Board the 2011 PSOC, aligned with the 2008 ISCO and which reflects new occupations and skills in the country brought about by changes in the global economy, developments in technology, equipment and machineries, among others;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the NSCB Executive Board approve the 2011 PSOC for adoption by concerned government agencies and instrumentalities.
