Laguna: Annual Population Growth Rate Recorded the Highest (4.08 Percent) in 2000

The total population of Laguna, as of May 1, 2000, was 1,965,872 persons. This represents an increase of 260,850 persons over the figure in the 1995 Census of Population. The annual population growth rate recorded during the 1995 to 2000 period of 4.08 percent was the highest annual growth rate for Laguna since 1918 Census. This was 0.8 percentage point higher than the annual growth rate during the 1995 count. If the current growth rate of the population continues at 4.08 percent, the population of Laguna was expected to double in 17 years.

San Fernando City, Provincial Capital of La Union Reached A Hundred Thousand Mark in Census 2000

The Census of Population and Housing (Census 2000) showed that the province of La Union recorded a total population of 657,945 persons. The figure was higher by 60,503 persons compared to the 1995 count. This increase translates into a 2.09 percent annual growth rate in the 1995-2000 period, higher than the annual growth rate (1.61 percent) in the 1990-1995 period. A corresponding increase of 10,585 households was also observed, from 116,994 households in 1995 to 127,579 households in 2000. This resulted to an average household size of 5.16 persons, slightly higher than the 5.11 average household size in 1995.

Females Better Educated in Kalinga

The province of Kalinga registered a total population of 174,023 persons in the year 2000 from 154,145 in 1995. This figure recorded an average annual growth rate of 2.63 percent, an increase of 0.40 percentage point from the 1995 figure. The number of households also rose to 30,450, higher by 2,595 households from 1995. This resulted to an average household size of 5.7 persons, a slight increase from the 1995 (5.5 persons) and national average of five persons.

Isabela: Most Populated Province in Cagayan Valley

The total population of Isabela, as of May 1, 2000, was 1,287,575 persons. This implied an increase of 156,854 persons over the 1995 census figure or an average annual growth rate of 2.25 percent. This was 0.90 percentage point higher than the average growth rate recorded in 1995 (1.35 percent). A corresponding increase on the number of households was also registered, from 233,203 households in 1995 to 254,982 households in 2000. This resulted to an average household size of 5.05 persons, higher than the national average of five persons.

Over One and a Half Million Persons in Iloilo

The province of Iloilo registered a total population of 1.6 million persons in the year 2000, up from 1.4 million persons in 1995. This figure gave an average annual population growth rate of 2.10 percent from 1995 to 2000, an increase of 1.05 percentage points from the average rate in the 1990 to 1995 period. The number of households in 2000 was 298,593, an increase of 34,711 households over the 1995 figure. This gave an average household size of 5.2 persons, a slight decrease from the average in 1995 (5.3 persons) and higher than the national average of five persons.
