The 2000 Input- Output Accounts Now Available

Release Date:

The 2000 Input-Output (I-O) Accounts is now available for use by researchers, economic planners, policy makers, industries, academe and the general public. The 2000 benchmark I-O includes the I-O Transactions Table, the Technical Coefficient Matrix, and the Inverse Coefficient Matrix. The 2000 I-O covers 240 industries compared to the 229 industries in the 1994 I-O. With the advancement in technologies, new industries such as call centers, business process outsourcing, computer-related services, and natural gas have emerged and these are now included among the 240 sectors in the 2000 I-O.

As compared to the national accounts which shows, among others, the macroeconomic aggregates such as gross national product (GNP) and gross domestic product (GDP), the I-O presents a more disaggregated structure of the economy, providing a detailed description of the process of production and the use of goods and services (or products) as well as the income generated by production. The I-O thus, provides a valuable tool for making an in-depth analysis of the economy.

The preparation of the I-O is a joint collaboration of the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) and the National Statistics Office (NSO). The 11 x 11 matrix can be downloaded from the NSCB website while the 60 x 60 and 240 x 240 matrices are available in both electronic and hard copies at the National Statistical Information Center (NSIC) located at the Ground Floor, Midland Buendia Building, 403 Senator Gil Puyat Avenue, Makati City.
