Chicken Situation Report, July-September 2023

The volume of total chicken production from July to September 2023 was recorded at 464.97 thousand metric tons, liveweight, indicating an annual growth of 2.3 percent from the 454.38 thousand metric tons, liveweight output in the same period of 2022. (Figure 1)

Central Luzon was the top producer of chicken with 151.97 thousand metric tons, liveweight or 32.7 percent share to the total chicken production during the reference quarter. Completing the top five regions with the highest volume of chicken production at liveweight in the third quarter of 2023 were the following:

a.    CALABARZON, 77.21 thousand metric tons;    
b.    Northern Mindanao, 40.77 thousand metric tons;    
c.    Western Visayas, 32.84 thousand metric tons; and    
d.    Central Visayas, 29.71 thousand metric tons.

These regions accounted for 71.5 percent share to the country’s total chicken production during the quarter.

Relative to their outputs in the same quarter of 2022, nine regions reported increases in production during the reference quarter. In terms of level, CALABARZON recorded the highest growth of 7.76 thousand metric tons, from 69.45 thousand metric tons in the third quarter of 2022 to 77.21 thousand metric tons in the same quarter of 2023.
