p align="JUSTIFY"bTotal population rose to 210,508 persons/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Puerto Princesa City, one of the highly urbanized cities in the country, posted a total population of 210,508 persons as of August 1, 2007. This represents an increase of 48,596 persons over the total population of 161,912 persons in 2000. These figures translated to an annual population growth rate of 3.68 percent for the period 2000 to 2007./p p align="JUSTIFY"The number of households also rose by 12,939 from 33,306 in 2000 to 46,245 in 2007. The average household size in 2007 was 4.5 persons, while in 2000, it was 4.8 persons./p p align="JUSTIFY"bSan Miguel was the most populated barangay/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Puerto Princesa is one of the highly urbanized cities in the country. It comprised of 66 barangays. Of these barangays, San Miguel (9.1 percent) was the most populated, followed by barangays San Pedro (8.6 percent), Santa Monica (5.8 percent), Bancao-bancao (5.4 percent), and Tiniguiban (5.0 percent). Santa Lucia (Pob.) (0.04 percent) was the least populated barangay/p p align="center" /p p align="JUSTIFY"bMales outnumbered females/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"The household population in Puerto Princesa City consisted of 103,671 males and 102,154 females, resulting in a sex ratio of 101 males for every 100 females. In 2000, the sex ratio was 103 males for every 100 females./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMedian age was 20 years/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Puerto Princesa City recorded a median age of 20 years in 2007. This means that half of the household population was below 20 years old. The same median age was recorded in 2000./p p align="center" /p p align="JUSTIFY"The proportion to total household population of persons under 15 years old was 35.3 percent. The age group 0 to 4 years comprised 12.1 percent. The proportions of those in age group 5 to 9 years (11.9 percent) and 10 to 14 years (11.3 percent) were slightly lower than that of the age group below 5 years. The age group 15 to 19 years was the largest, comprising 12.6 percent, probably due to in-migration to Puerto Princesa City of students and workers from other municipalities in the province./p p align="JUSTIFY"bThree out of five persons were in the voting age group/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"More than half (57.2 percent) of the household population belonged to the voting-age population (18 years and over). This is slightly higher than the proportion of voting-age population (55.1 percent) recorded in 2000. The proportion of females of voting age (50.1 percent) to the total voting-age population in 2007 was slightly higher than that of the males (49.9 percent)./p p align="JUSTIFY"bDependency ratio down to 62/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"The proportion of household population belonging to age group 0 to 14 years was 35.3 percent. The oldest group (65 years and over) posted a share of 2.9 percent while the working-age population (15 to 64 years) had a share of 61.8 percent of the household population./p p align="JUSTIFY"The overall dependency ratio in Puerto Princesa City in 2007 was 61.8. This means that for every 100 persons aged 15 to 64 years, there were about 62 dependents (57 young dependents and 5 old dependents). The dependency ratio in 2007 is lower compared to the 2000 ratio of 69 persons per 100 of the working-age population./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMore females among widowed and divorced/separated/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"In 2007, about 46 percent of the household population 10 years old and over were never-married, while 42.3 percent were married. The proportion of never-married persons (42.5 percent) in 2000 was lower than in 2007, while the proportion of married persons (46.3 percent) in 2000 was higher than in 2007. On the other hand, there was an increase in the proportion of persons in common law/live-in status, from 5.4 percent in 2000 to 6.9 percent in 2007./p p align="JUSTIFY"A higher proportion (52.6 percent) of males than females among never-married was observed in 2007. On the other hand, the proportion of females was higher among married (50.5 percent), widowed (77.4 percent), divorced/separated (62.6 percent), and in common law/live-in arrangement (51.0 percent)./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMore females pursued higher levels of education/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Of the household population five years old and over, 29.6 percent had attended or completed elementary education, 33.6 percent reached or completed high school, 3.9 percent attended post secondary education, 13.1 percent were college undergraduates, and 9.6 percent were academic degree holders./p p align="JUSTIFY"Among academic degree holders and among those with post baccalaureate courses, more than half were females. Females who were academic degree holders comprised 58.6 percent of all academic degree holders. Of those with post baccalaureate courses, females accounted for 52.8 percent./p p align="JUSTIFY"Among the household population 5 to 24 years old, 68.7 percent attended school at anytime during School Year 2007 to 2008. There were more males (50.1 percent) than females (49.9 percent) who attended school during the said school year./p p align="JUSTIFY"b101 households for every 100 occupied housing units/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"A total of 46,245 households resided in 45,840 housing units in Puerto Princesa City. These numbers translated to a ratio of 101 households for every 100 occupied housing units. In 2000, the same ratio of households to occupied housing units was recorded. In 2007, there were 4.5 persons per occupied housing unit. A ratio of 4.9 persons per occupied housing unit was recorded in 2000./p p align="JUSTIFY"bProportion of occupied housing units with roofs made of strong materials increased/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Most of the occupied housing units in Puerto Princesa City had roofs made of galvanized iron/aluminum (60.0 percent), up by 21.3 percentage points from the proportion in 2000. Meanwhile, more than half (57.1 percent) of the occupied housing units in 2007 had outer walls made of bamboo/sawali/cogon/nipa, indicating a decrease of 7.1 percentage points from the 2000 figure./p p align="JUSTIFY" /p p style="text-align: -webkit-left; " /p table border="0" width="100%" tbody tr td colspan="80%" /td td align="CENTER" nowrap="nowrap"(Sgd.) bCARMELITA N.
