- The 2015 population of the region is higher by 222,247 compared with the population of 3.23 million in 2010, and by 638,251 compared with the population of 2.81 million in 2000. Refer to Table 1.

- The population of Region II increased by 1.27 percent annually, on average, during the period 2010 to 2015. By comparison, the rate at which the region’s population grew during the period 2000 to 2010 was higher at 1.39 percent. See Table 2.

- Among the five provinces comprising the region, Isabela had the biggest population in 2015 with 1.59 million, followed by Cagayan with 1.20 million, Nueva Vizcaya with 452 thousand, and Quirino with 189 thousand. Batanes had the smallest population with 17 thousand. Refer to Table 3.

- The total population of Region II accounted for about 3.4 percent of the Philippine population in 2015.

- Nueva Vizcaya was the fastest growing province in the region with an average annual population growth rate (PGR) of 1.36 percent during the period 2010 to 2015. It was followed by Isabela (1.29 percent), Quirino (1.28 percent), and Cagayan (1.23 percent). Batanes posted the lowest PGR of 0.72 percent. See Table 4.

- Region II is composed of four cities, 89 municipalities, and 2,311 barangays.

- Among the cities and municipalities in the region, the largest in terms of population size is Tuguegarao City, Cagayan with 153,502 persons. It was followed by the three cities in Isabela - Ilagan City (145,568), City of Santiago (134,830), and City of Cauayan (129,523). Three municipalities each in Cagayan and Isabela comprise the rest of the top ten most populous cities/municipalities in Region II. Refer to Table 5.

- Uyugan in Batanes is the least populous city/municipality in Region II with 1,297 persons. It was followed by Ivana (1,327), Mahatao (1,555), Sabtang (1,621), and Itbayat (2,867) - all in the province of Batanes. Three municipalities in the province of Isabela and one municipality each in the province of Cagayan and in the province of Nueva Vizcaya comprise the rest of the ten least populous cities/municipalities in the region.
