p align="JUSTIFY"bPopulation increased by 8.4 percent/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"The province of Nueva Vizcaya had a total population of 397,837 persons as of August 1, 2007, an increase of 8.4 percent from 366,962 persons in 2000. This increase translated to an annual population growth rate (PGR) of 1.12 percent during the period 2000 to 2007, or 0.85 percentage point lower than the recorded PGR of 1.97 percent for the period 1995 to 2000./p p align="JUSTIFY"Among the 15 municipalities in Nueva Vizcaya, Solano registered the highest population with 14.1 percent of the total population of the province. This was followed by Bayombong (13.7 percent), the provincial capital, and Bambang (11.4 percent). These municipalities also ranked top three in the province in terms of population size in 2000. On the other hand, Alfonso Castañeda was the least populous municipality in 2000 and 2007 with 4,808 persons and 6,655 persons, respectively./p p align="center" /p p align="JUSTIFY"bAverage household size decreased to 4.5 persons/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"The household population of the province in 2007 increased to 396,906 persons. Likewise, the number of households increased from 74,402 in 2000 to 89,171 in 2007. The figures in 2007 translated to an average household size of 4.5 persons, down from the average household size of 4.9 persons in 2000/p p align="JUSTIFY"bSex ratio was 104 males per 100 females /b/p p align="JUSTIFY"In 2007, the proportion of male household population (51.1 percent) was higher than its female counterpart (48.9 percent). The sex ratio was 104 males per 100 females, lower than the ratio recorded in 2000 at 105 males per 100 females./p p align="JUSTIFY"Males outnumbered females at ages 59 years and below while females outnumbered males at ages 60 years and over./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMedian age rose to 23 years/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"The median age of the household population of the province in 2007 was computed at 23 years, which means that half of the household population were below 23 years old. This was three years higher than the computed median age in 2000./p p align="center" /p p align="JUSTIFY"The age group 5 to 9 years accounted for the highest proportion (11.4 percent). This was followed closely by 10 to 14 years (11.2 percent) and 0 to 4 years (11.2 percent)./p p align="JUSTIFY"bAbout 60 percent were of voting age /b/p p align="JUSTIFY"About three fifths (59.5 percent) of the household population were 18 years old and over, which comprise the voting-age population of Nueva Vizcaya. This indicated an increase of 3.3 percentage points from the voting-age population of 56.2 percent in 2000. There were more males (50.9 percent) than females (49.1 percent) in the voting-age population of the province in 2007./p p align="JUSTIFY"bDependents decreased to 62 persons per 100 persons in the working-age population /b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Persons aged 15 to 64 years or the so-called working-age population comprised 61.7 percent of the household population. About 33.9 percent were young dependents (under 15 years) while 4.5 percent were old dependents (65 years and over)./p p align="JUSTIFY"The overall dependency ratio in 2007 was 62 dependents (55 young and 7 old dependents) per 100 persons in the working-age population. This was lower than the ratio recorded in 2000, which was 71 dependents per 100 persons in the working-age population./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMore than half of females were of childbearing age/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Out of the 194,093 female household population, 51.9 percent belonged to childbearing ages (15 to 49 years). This was higher than the proportion of childbearing-age population (50.6 percent) posted in 2000./p p align="JUSTIFY"bApproximately half of the household population were married/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Of the household population 10 years old and over, half (50.6 percent) were married while 42.0 percent were single. The remaining proportion were either widowed, divorced/separated, had common-law/live-in marital arrangement, or had unknown marital status. There were more males (55.6 percent) than females (44.4 percent) who were single. Females outnumbered males in the rest of the categories for marital status./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMore than one third had attended or completed elementary education/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Out of the 352,490 household population 5 years old and over, 36.9 percent had attended or completed elementary, 32.0 percent had reached or finished high school, and 21.3 percent pursued beyond high school education. More females than males pursued college or earned academic degrees./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMore males than females were enrolled /b/p p align="JUSTIFY"Of the household population 5 to 24 years old, about two thirds (66.3 percent) had attended school during School Year (SY) 2007 to 2008. This means that about 1 in every 3 persons (33.7 percent) in the household population 5 to 24 years old did not attend school. Most of those who attended school belonged to age groups 10 to 14 years (37.0 percent) and 5 to 9 years (35.9 percent). More males (50.2 percent) than females (49.8 percent) attended school during SY 2007 to 2008./p p align="JUSTIFY"bOccupied housing units increased by 20.6 percent/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"There were 88,007 occupied housing units in Nueva Vizcaya in 2007. This was 20.6 percent higher than the 72,967 occupied housing units recorded in 2000. This showed a ratio of 101 households per 100 occupied housing units in 2007, lower than the ratio of 102 households per 100 occupied housing units in 2000./p p align="JUSTIFY"bProportion of occupied housing units with strong materials of roofs and walls increased/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"In 2007, more than one third (37.9 percent) of the occupied housing units had outer walls made of concrete/brick/stone while 88.2 percent had roofs made of galvanized iron/aluminum. These construction materials were also primarily used for outer walls and roofs in 2000./p p align="JUSTIFY"Moreover, nearly two in every five occupied housing units (37.3 percent) had walls made of concrete/brick/stone and roofs made of galvanized iron/aluminum, up from 28.9 percent in 2000./p p align="JUSTIFY"bMajority lived in owned or amortized lots/b/p p align="JUSTIFY"The percentage of households who owned or amortized the lots they occupied rose from 70.8 percent in 2000 to 82.8 percent in 2007.
