CMWPI in NCR continues to exhibit a slower annual pace during the month
The annual rate of CMWPI in NCR decelerated further to 1.3 percent in May 2020, from an annual increase of 1.5 percent in April 2020. In May 2019, its annual rate was higher at 3.0 percent. (Table A and Table 2)
Annual declines were still posted in the indices of plywood at 0.9 percent and fuels and lubricants, 21.3 percent. Moreover, annual hikes slowed down in the indices of the following commodity groups:
a. Sand and gravel, 1.3 percent
b. Concrete products and cement; and painting works, both at 0.7 percent;
c. Hardware, 4.7 percent;
d. Lumber, 3.3 percent;
e. Doors, jambs, and steel casement, 0.4 percent; and
f. Plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks, 0.8 percent.
Meanwhile, a faster annual pace of 1.1 percent was registered in the index of electrical works during the month. The indices of the rest of the commodity groups maintained their previous month’s annual growth rates. (Table 2)
