Annual increment of CMWPI in NCR decelerates
The annual rate of increase of CMWPI in NCR slowed down to 1.5 percent in February 2020. Higher annual growth rates were registered in January 2020 at 1.8 percent and in February 2019, 3.8 percent. (Table A and Table 2)
Annual declines were seen in the indices of plywood at 0.1 percent; and doors, jambs, and steel casement, and fuels and lubricants, both at 0.7 percent. Compared with their annual growth rates in January 2020, slower annual mark-ups were noted in the following commodity groups:
- Sand and Gravel, 2.5 percent;
- Concrete products and cement, 0.6 percent;
- Electrical works, 2.0 percent; and
- Plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks, 1.9 percent.
Meanwhile, the following commodity groups exhibited higher annual increases during the month:
- Hardware, 5.3 percent;
- Lumber, 3.8 percent;
- G.I. sheet, 4.0 percent;
- Reinforcing and structural steel, 0.2 percent; and
- Tileworks, 17.5 percent.
The rest of the commodity groups maintained their previous month’s annual growth rates. (Table 2)
