• Month-on-Month

  The wholesale price index of selected construction materials in the National Capital Region moved up to 0.3 percent in September from a negative rate of -0.1 percent in August. Higher monthly increments were recorded in the indexes of the following commodity groups: fuels and lubricants (0.6% from -0.6%); sand and gravel (1.8% from 0.7%); electrical works (1.0% from 0.2%); lumber and reinforcing steel (0.2% from -0.4%); structural steel (0.1% from -0.4%); and tileworks (1.1% from 0.7%). From zero growth, higher rates were also noted in the indexes of asphalt at 2.3 percent; hardware, 0.3 percent; and concrete products, 0.2 percent. On the other hand, a slower monthly gain was posted in plywood index at 0.2 percent in September from 0.6 percent in August. Moreover, a -0.1 percent drop was observed in the cement index while the indexes of the rest of the commodity groups remained stable during the month
  

• Year-on-Year

  The annual growth rate of the Construction Materials Wholesale Price Index (CMWPI) in NCR rose to 8.7 percent in September from 7.9 percent in August. It resulted from higher annual upward adjustments in the indexes of twelve commodity groups with fuels and lubricants registering the biggest jump of 4.2 percentage points at 21.0 percent in September from 16.8 percent in August. However, annual hikes were slower in the corresponding indexes of plywood and plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks at 11.0 percent and 5.2 percent from 11.7 percent and 5.5 percent, respectively. The same previous month's annual rates were seen in the indexes of G.I. sheet, glass and glass products and doors, jambs and steel casement while that for machinery and equipment rental index was still zero.
