The monthly growth in the Construction Materials Wholesale Price Index (CMWPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) went up to 0.7 percent in November from zero growth in October. This can be attributed to higher increments posted in fuels and lubricants index at 2.7 percent in November from -0.7 percent in October and painting works index, 0.5 percent from 0.1 percent. From zero growth, the monthly changes in the following commodity groups also increased: sand and gravel index, 0.5 percent; lumber index, structural steel index and doors, jambs and steel casement index, 0.6 percent; reinforcing steel index, 1.7 percent; and PVC pipes index, 0.4 percent. While a -0.1 percent drop was recorded in the indexes of plywood and plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks, the rest of the commodity groups have zero growth during the month.

On an annual basis, the CMWPI in NCR picked up to 8.6 percent in November from 8.2 percent in October. Upward annual adjustment was observed in sand and gravel index (10.5% from 10.2%); lumber index (7.8% from 6.8%); reinforcing steel index (10.2% from 8.4%); structural steel index (9.1% from 8.4%); doors, jambs and steel casement index (6.1% from 5.4%); painting works index (6.3% from 5.8%); PVC pipes index (3.0% from 2.5%); and fuels and lubricants index (18.3% from 17.9%). Slower annual add-ons were however seen in the indexes of plywood, tileworks, plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks and asphalt. The annual growth in the indexes of concrete products, hardware, G.I. sheet and glass and glass products and electrical works remained at their last month's rates while that for machinery and equipment rental was still zero.
