    The month-on-month growth of the Construction Materials Wholesale Price Index (CMWPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) went up to 0.3 percent in June from 0.1 percent in May. It resulted from the higher monthly gain recorded in the index of cement at 0.3 percent in June from -3.0 percent in May; reinforcing steel, 1.3 percent from 0.6 percent; and concrete products, 0.4 percent from 0.1 percent. On the other hand, slower increases were noted in the indexes of the following commodity groups: sand and gravel, 0.2 percent from 1.7 percent; hardware and structural steel, 1.0 percent from 1.3 percent and 1.8 percent, respectively; plywood, 0.2 percent from 1.2 percent; tileworks, 0.4 percent from 0.6 percent; electrical works, 0.1 percent from 1.8 percent; and painting works, 0.2 percent from 1.4 percent. Moreover, a negative rate was still observed in fuels and lubricants index at -1.2 percent from -2.0 percent. The rest of the commodity group indexes have zero growth during the month.

    The annual growth rate based on the CMWPI picked up to 8.4 percent in June from 7.8 percent in May. This was effected by higher annual adjustment in the index of fuels and lubricants at 18.7 percent in June from 16.6 percent in May; reinforcing steel, 8.6 percent from 7.2 percent; hardware, 5.3 percent from 4.2 percent; structural steel, 8.9 percent from 7.9 percent; tileworks, 3.6 percent from 3.1 percent; and concrete products, 7.2 percent from 6.8 percent. However, annual hike was slower in lumber index at 8.2 percent from 10.3 percent; G.I. sheet, 1.7 percent from 2.4 percent; plywood, 11.3 percent from 11.6 percent; electrical works, 7.8 percent from 8.0 percent; and painting works, 4.5 percent from 4.7 percent. Annual increments in the indexes of sand and gravel, glass and glass products, doors, jambs and steel casement, plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks, PVC pipes and asphalt remained at their respective previous month's rates while that for cement index further dropped to -5.4 percent from -2.2 percent. There was no movement in machinery and equipment rental index as it still registered a zero growth.
