On an annual basis, the Construction Materials Wholesale Price Index (CMWPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) rose 2.5 percent in July from 2.3 percent in June. Higher annual gains were registered in the indices of the following commodities: fuels and lubricants, 4.9 percent from 2.5 percent; G.I. sheet, 3.8 percent from 3.7 percent; plumbing fixtures and accessories/ waterworks, 2.9 percent from 2.6 percent; PVC pipes, 1.3 percent from 1.1 percent; and painting works, 0.6 percent from 0.5 percent. The other commodity groups had slower annual hikes or retained their last month’s rate with the machinery and equipment rental index still recording a zero growth.

Month-on-Month
The month-on-month growth of the CMWPI in NCR inched up 0.3 percent in July from 0.2 percent in June. It resulted from upward adjustments in the fuels and lubricants index at 1.8 percent from 1.0 percent and cement index, 0.2 percent from 0.1 percent. From zero growth, the indices of PVC pipes and G.I. sheet also grew by 0.5 percent and 0.1 percent, respectively. The plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks index moved at its last month’s rate of 0.3 percent while the rest of the commodity groups posted zero growth.
Price increments in diesel and fuel oil, cement, selected electrical works, some plumbing fixtures and accessories and PVC pipes were observed during the month.
