• Month-on-Month

  The monthly growth rate of the Construction Materials Wholesale Price Index (CMWPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) was recorded at 0.1 percent in September, the same rate posted in August. A higher price movement was observed in structural steel at 0.7 percent from zero growth. Meanwhile, a slower price increment was noted in fuels and lubricants at 0.8 percent from 5.5 percent. Price reductions were correspondingly seen in plywood and hardware at -0.1 percent and -0.8 percent from -1.2 percent and -0.3 percent, respectively. Prices for the rest of the commodity groups generally remained stable as they registered a zero growth during the month.
  

• Year-on-Year

  The annual inflation rate of the CMWPI in NCR further dropped to -3.5 percent in September from -2.1 percent in August. This can be attributed to the annual decreases in the prices of sand, stone and gravel index (-0.2%), plywood (-4.2%), fuels and lubricants (-22.4%), asphalt (-15.0%), reinforcing steel (-11.8%) and structural steel (-8.7%). Slower annual gains were also noticed in the prices of cement, lumber, wood products, hardware, metal pipes, concrete products, paints, G.I. sheets, exterior electrical equipment/supplies, interior electrical fixtures and devices, tileworks and electrical rough-in materials. The rest of the commodity groups retained their last month's annual growth rates while that for blasting materials and machinery and equipment rental index was zero.
