• Month-on-Month

  The month-on-month growth rate of the Wholesale Price Index of Construction Materials (CMWPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) rose to 0.1 percent in December from zero growth in November. An upward price movement was recorded in cement index at 0.7 percent; lumber, 0.2 percent; asphalt, 2.5 percent; aluminum and other metal products, 0.5 percent; and tileworks, 0.7 percent. On the other hand, a slower price movement was noted in the index of fuels and lubricants at 3.5 percent from 4.3 percent. Price reductions were also seen in the indices of wood products, hardware, metal pipes and structural steel.
  

• Year-on-Year

  The annual growth rate of the CMWPI in NCR was still negative at -1.1 percent in December from -1.6 percent in November. Annual price declines were correspondingly noticed in the indices of asphalt and structural steel at -14.3 percent and -6.7 percent in December from their respective November rates of -16.4 percent and -5.9 percent. Moreover, annual price gains were slower in the indices of wood products, hardware and concrete products. Meanwhile, annual price increases were higher in the indices of cement, lumber, fuels and lubricants, aluminum and other metal products, interior electrical fixtures and device, tileworks and electrical rough-in materials. The rest of the commodity groups retained their previous month's rates while that for blasting materials and machinery and equipment rental index was still zero.
