• Month-on-Month

  The monthly increase in the wholesale price index of selected construction materials in the National Capital Region (NCR) was posted at -0.2 percent in April, the same rate registered last March. From zero growth, price reductions were seen in sand, stone and gravel at -0.1 percent; asphalt, -21.9 percent; and structural steel, -0.6 percent. On the other hand, faster growth rate was observed in the price of cement (0.3% from 0.1%); fuels and lubricants (7.6% from -1.2 %); concrete products (1.3% from 0.9 %); G.I. sheets (0.3% from -0.8%); interior electrical fixtures and devices (1.3% from zero); and electrical rough-in materials (1.5% from -0.4%). The monthly price movement of twelve commodity groups generally remained stable as they recorded a zero growth while prices for the rest of commodity groups were slower during the month.
  

• Year-on-Year

  The annual inflation rate of the CMWPI in NCR further went down to 12.1 percent in April from 15.7 percent in March. An annual price decrease of -20.9 percent from its previous month's rate of -23.8 percent was still noticed in fuels and lubricants. Similarly slower rates were noted in the price increments of most of the commodity groups. Annual price gains were however higher in the prices of concrete products, paints, G.I. sheets, interior electrical fixtures and devices, and electrical rough-in materials. The rest of the commodity groups retained their last month's annual growth rates while that for blasting materials and machinery and equipment rental was zero.
