p align="justify"bTotal population rose to 103,633 persons/b/p p align="justify"Apayao posted a total population of 103,633 persons as of August 1, 2007, or an increase of 6,504 persons over the total population of 97,129 persons in 2000. This increase translated to an annual population growth rate (PGR) of 0.90 percent for the period 2000 to 2007, lower than the annual PGR of 3.25 percent recorded during the period 1995 to 2000./p p align="justify"The number of households rose by 2,933 from 18,165 in 2000 to 21,098 in 2007. The average household size in 2007 was 4.9 persons, lower than the 2000 average household size of 5.3 persons./p p align="justify"bConner was the biggest municipality in terms of population size/b/p p align="justify"Among the 7 municipalities in the province of Apayao, Conner (21.9 percent) was the most populated, followed by the municipalities of Luna (15.9 percent) and Flora (15.5 percent). Calanasan (9.3 percent) was the least populated municipality./p p align="center" /p p align="justify"bMore males than females/b/p p align="justify"Of the 103,565 household population of Apayao, 53,657 were males and 49,908 were females, resulting to a sex ratio of 108 males per 100 females. This ratio was higher than the sex ratio reported in 2000 (106 males per 100 females)./p p align="justify"bMedian age increased to 22 years/b/p p align="justify"Apayao posted a median age of 22 years in 2007. This means that half of the household population was below 22 years old. The median age in 2000 was 20 years./p p align="justify"The proportion to total household population of persons under 15 years old was 36.4 percent, which was almost equally distributed to age groups 0 to 4 years (12.4 percent), 5 to 9 years old (12.1 percent), and 10 to 14 years old (11.9 percent)./p p align="center" /p p align="justify"There were more males than females in age brackets 0 to 59 years, 65 to 69 years and 75 years and over. On the other hand, females outnumbered males in age groups 60 to 64 years and 70 to 74 years./p p align="justify"bMore males than females in the voting-age population/b/p p align="justify"More than half (57.1 percent) of the household population in Apayao were of voting ages (18 years and over). This was higher than the proportion of voting-age population (55.4 percent) recorded in 2000. The proportion of males (52.0 percent) to the total voting-age population was higher than that of the females (48.0 percent) in 2007./p p align="justify"bDependency ratio declined to 69 dependents per 100 working-age population/b/p p align="justify"The proportion of household population belonging to age group 0 to 14 years was 36.4 percent. The oldest group (65 years and over) posted a share of 4.5 percent while the working-age population (15 to 64 years) contributed 59.1 percent to the household population./p p align="justify"The overall dependency ratio in Apayao in 2007 was 69.3. This means that for every 100 persons aged 15 to 64 years, there were about 69 dependents (62 young dependents and 7 old dependents). The dependency ratio in 2007 was lower compared to the 2000 ratio of 72 persons per 100 working-age population./p p align="justify"bMore than half were married/b/p p align="justify"In 2007, about two in every five (42.8 percent) household population 10 years old and over were never-married, while 51.0 percent were married. The proportion of never-married persons in 2007 was slightly lower than that in 2000 (44.5 percent). In contrast, the proportion of married persons in 2007 was higher compared to that in 2000 (47.4 percent). Moreover, the proportion of persons who were widowed increased slightly from 4.4 percent in 2000 to 4.7 percent in 2007./p p align="justify"A higher proportion of males (57.0 percent) among never-married persons was recorded in 2007. On the other hand, females dominated the categories for married (50.2 percent), widowed (67.4 percent), divorced/separated (58.5 percent), and those in common law/live-in marital arrangement (52.9 percent)./p p align="justify"bMore females pursued higher levels of education/b/p p align="justify"Of the household population five years old and over, 44.9 percent had attended or completed elementary education, 28.8 percent had reached or completed high school, 6.5 percent were college undergraduates, and 5.6 percent were academic degree holders./p p align="justify"Among the academic degree holders and among those with post baccalaureate courses, majority were females: 59.2 percent and 66.1 percent, respectively./p p align="justify"Of the 43,658 household population 5 to 24 years old, 65.1 percent attended school at anytime during School Year 2007 to 2008. Among males aged 5 to 24 years, 63.5 percent attended school during the said school year. School attendance for females aged 5 to 24 years, on the other hand, was posted at 66.9 percent./p p align="justify"b101 households for every 100 occupied housing units/b/p p align="justify"A total of 21,098 households resided in 20,923 housing units in Apayao. This translated to a ratio of 101 households for every 100 occupied housing units, or 4.9 persons per occupied housing unit. In 2000, the ratio of households to occupied housing units was also 101 households for every 100 occupied housing units, or 5.4 persons per occupied housing unit./p p align="justify"bOccupied housing units with roofs and outer walls made of strong materials increased/b/p p align="justify"Most of the occupied housing units in Apayao had roofs made of galvanized iron/aluminum (84.0 percent), up by 15.1 percentage points from the proportion in 2000. Meanwhile, more than one out of four (28.4 percent) occupied housing units in 2007 had outer walls made of concrete/brick/stone, indicating an increase of 11.1 percentage points from the 2000 figure of 17.3 percent./p p align="justify" /p table border="0" width="100%" tbody tr td colspan="80" /td td align="middle" nowrap="nowrap"(Sgd.) bCARMELITA N.
