A total of 2,947 hotels and restaurants with total employment of 20 and over were covered in 2008.
  • Most of the establishments 2,390 (81.1%) were restaurants, bars, canteens and other eating and drinking places (PSIC H552).
     
  • Hotels, camping sites and other provisions of short stay accommodation (PSIC H551) made up the remaining 557 (18.9%) of the establishments.

Hotel and restaurant establishments with total employment of 20 and over provided employment to 165,907 employees in 2008.
  • Restaurants, bars, canteens and other eating and drinking places (PSIC H552) employed 110,725 workers (66.7%).
     
  • Hotels, camping sites and other provisions of short stay accommodation (PSIC H551) employed a total of 55,182 (33.3%).

Revenue and Cost
 
An estimated amount of PhP138.1 billion in total revenue was generated by hotel and restaurant sector with total employment of 20 and over in 2008. Cost excluding compensation was reported at Php103.8 billion.
  • Restaurants, bars, canteens and other eating and drinking places (PSIC H552) recorded the highest share at PhP71.8 billion (52.0%) to revenue with a cost registered at PhP49.8 billion(48.0%).
     
  • Hotels, camping sites and other provisions of short stay accommodation (PSIC H551) earned PhP66.3 billion (48.0%). Its cost was recorded at PhP54.0 billion (52.0%).
