Highlights of the Foreign Trade Statistics for Agricultural Commodities in the Philippines Second Quarter 2020 Preliminary

The country’s total agricultural trade in the second quarter of 2020, which amounted to USD 4.07 billion, declined at an annual rate of 20.0 percent. This was faster than the previous quarter’s annual drop of 11.6 percent. On the other hand, the second quarter of 2019 showed an annual increase of 4.8 percent .

During the quarter, agricultural exports and imports were recorded at USD 1.45 billion (35.7%) and USD 2.62 billion (64.3%), respectively. (Figure 1 and Table 1)

The country’s total agricultural trade in the first quarter of 2020, which amounted to USD 4.40 billion, slid at an annual rate of 11.6 percent. This was faster than the previous quarter’s annual drop of 0.5 percent, while slower than the 13.2 percent annual increase in the first quarter of 2019. During the quarter, USD 1.61 billion (36.5%) were agricultural exports and USD 2.79 billion (63.5%) were agricultural imports. (Figure 1 and Table 1)

Highlights of the 2019 Foreign Trade Statistics for Agricultural Commodities in the Philippines: Final Results

The total value of agricultural trade of the Philippines amounted to USD21.22 billion or 11.6 percent of the total trade in 2019. It rose by 5.0 percent compared with the USD20.22 billion total agricultural trade in 2018. Of the total agricultural trade, USD6.68 billion (31.5%) were agricultural exports and USD14.54 billion (68.5%) were agricultural imports. (Figure 1 and Table 1)

Highlights of the 2019 Annual Report on International Merchandise Trade Statistics of the Philippines

The country’s total external trade in goods in 2019 amounted to USD182.52 billion, which represents an increase of 0.2 percent from the USD182.15 billion total external trade in 2018. Of the total external trade, USD70.93 billion (38.9%) were exported goods and USD111.59 billion (61.1%) were imported goods.
