Housing Characteristics in the Philippines (Results of the 2015 Census of Population)

Results of the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015) revealed that of the country's 24.22 million housing units, 92.57 percent or 22.42 million housing units were occupied by households or household population. This translated into an occupancy rate of 92.57 percent.

Aside from the total number of housing units, occupied housing units, and occupancy rates, this report also presents data on the ratio of households/household population to occupied housing unit/s; distribution of occupied housing units by type of building and construction materials of the outer walls and roof; tenure status of the housing unit and lot; fuel used for lighting; and source of water supply for drinking and cooking.

Institutional Population Increased by More Than 168 Thousand

Institutional population constitutes that part of the total population whose usual place of residence are collective or institutional living quarters (ILQs) such as hotels, motels, lodging houses, and dormitories; hospitals and nurses' homes; welfare institutions; corrective and penal institutions; convents, nunneries, seminaries, and boarding schools; military camps and stations; logging, mining, constructions/public works camps; oceangoing and interisland/coastal vessels; and refugee camps.

Philippine Population Surpassed the 100 Million Mark (Results from the 2015 Census of Population)

As of 1 August 2015, the Philippines had a total population of 100,981,437 persons based on the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015).
The total population based on the POPCEN 2015 is higher by 8,643,585 persons compared with the 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH) count of 92,337,852 persons. Based on the 2007 Census of Population (POPCEN 2007), the total population was 88,548,366 persons.

Highlights on Household Population, Number of Households, and Average Household Size of the Philippines (2015 Census of Population)

The household population of the Philippines reached 100.57 million persons in 2015. This is 8.48 million higher than the 92.10 million household population reported in 2010, and 23.96 million more than the 76.61 million household population posted in 2000.
