Single Population in the Philippines (Results from the 2015 Census of Population)

In 2015, there were 34.8 million single persons in the Philippines, or 44 percent of the total population 10 years old over. This is higher by 3.5 million compared to the 2010 report of 31.3 million single persons. The census of population, which is conducted by the PSA every 10 years, collects data on marital status for persons 10 years old and over.

Urban Population in the Philippines (Results of the 2015 Census of Population)

In 2015, the level of urbanization or the percentage of population residing in urban areas in the Philippines was recorded at 51.2 percent. This means that a total of 51.73 million persons resided in barangays classified as urban. There were 7,437 barangays classified as urban and 34,599 as rural. The level of urbanization in 2010 was only 45.3 percent.

Housing Characteristics in the Philippines (Results of the 2015 Census of Population)

Results of the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015) revealed that of the country's 24.22 million housing units, 92.57 percent or 22.42 million housing units were occupied by households or household population. This translated into an occupancy rate of 92.57 percent.

Aside from the total number of housing units, occupied housing units, and occupancy rates, this report also presents data on the ratio of households/household population to occupied housing unit/s; distribution of occupied housing units by type of building and construction materials of the outer walls and roof; tenure status of the housing unit and lot; fuel used for lighting; and source of water supply for drinking and cooking.
