The year-on-year growth of the Construction Materials Wholesale Price Index (CMWPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) was recorded at its previous month’s rate of 1.6 percent. Mixed movements in the annual growths among the commodity groups were noted during the month. The tileworks index rose 4.7 percent in October from 4.0 percent in September while the indices of the 10 commodity groups had slowdowns. On the other hand, the index for fuels and lubricants had a negative annual rate of 1.8 percent from -2.3 percent. The rest of the commodity groups moved at their last month’s rate while the machinery and equipment rental index still posted a zero growth.
The CMWPI in NCR generally remained stable as it registered a zero growth in October from 0.1 percent in September. This resulted from the zero growths seen in most of the commodity groups during the month. The monthly rate in the tileworks index went up 1.0 percent from 0.3 percent. However, the fuels and lubricants index further dropped by 0.6 percent from -0.5 percent while the concrete products index had a slower monthly rate of 0.1 percent from 0.2 percent.
Upward price adjustments in selected concrete products and hardware items were observed during the month while rollbacks were noticed in the prices of diesel.
