As of 01 July 2020, the total carabao inventory was estimated at 2.90 million heads. This was 1.0 percent higher than the 2.87 million heads stocks in the same period of 2019. Carabao population in backyard farms improved by 1.0 percent from the 2.86 million heads in the same period of 2019, while inventory in commercial farms registered a decrease of 4.8 percent relative to its previous year’s record of 10.51 thousand heads.
The top three regions, in terms of inventory, were Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and Central Luzon. These regions accounted for 29.1 percentof the country’s total carabao inventory. (Figure 2 and Table 2)
