PSA Issues Updates on Women and Men in the Philippines

In support of this year’s upcoming celebration of Women’s Month, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has issued a Factsheet on Women and Men in the Philippines, which focuses on the latest statistical updates on women and men in the country. This year’s edition contains 99 indicators covering 15 socio-economic sectors and gender concerns, namely:

  1. Population;
  2. Education;
  3. Health and Nutrition;
  4. Work and Economic Participation;
  5. Family Income and Expenditures;
  6. Agriculture;
  7. Public Life;
  8. Sustainable Development Goals specifically on Goals 4 and 5;
  9. Trade and Industry;
  10. Tourism;
  11. Social Welfare and Development;
  12. Violence Against Women;
  13. Child Abuse;
  14. Filipino Youth; and
  15. Women Empowerment.

A comparison among ASEAN countries in some indicators disaggregated by sex is also available.

The Factsheet, which can be accessed through the following link:, includes data from the latest surveys, statistical reports and publications such as the 2018 Labor Force Survey (LFS), 2017 Survey on Overseas Filipinos (SOF), 2015 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES), among others, and from administrative-based sources such as the business name registration from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Number of cases served by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), among others. It hopes to provide relevant and user-friendly information on gender issues that are deemed important to planners, researchers and other users for evidence-based gender and development advocacy, planning, programming and policy setting.
