3rd PSA Quiz Bee hails Region II as National Champion

The top three winners, together with their respective PSA Regional Directors, RSC members and focal persons, express their glee as they receive their plaques and prizes during the awarding ceremony of the 3rd PSA Quiz Bee.

05 October 2023 – MANILA. Ms. Ma. Gloria L. Daluddung, Supervising Economic Development Specialist of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Region II, emerged as the National Champion of the 3rd Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Quiz Bee in the national finals held on 05 October 2023 at the Century Park Hotel in Manila, claiming victory over 16 other Regional Champions from all over the country.

The top three spots were completed by Mr. Elfred John C. Abacan, Assistant Professor from the University of the Philippines – Visayas, representing Region VI, and Mr. Jerard T. Matildo, Statistician I from the Department of Social Welfare and Development - Caraga, representing Caraga Region, who ranked second and third, respectively.

The PSA hosts this creative quiz competition to members of Regional Statistics Committees (RSC) annually with all 17 regions holding their respective regional eliminations to determine its representative to the national finals. The battle of wits focuses on questions related to principles, processes, regulations, and policy directives of PSA’s programs and services, and is conducted in line with the 34th National Statistics Month celebration.

On its third year, the PSA Quiz Bee has partnered with the Marketing and Opinion Research Society (MORES) of the Philippines, with the Philippine Survey and Research Center (PSRC) as major sponsor, following the agency’s aim of engaging more stakeholders in providing significance to its data and figures. MORES Research Standards Committee Chairman Nicco A. De Jesus expressed his appreciation for the PSA and emphasized how quiz bees are tools for sharing information with a wide audience, thereby building a data culture. He further assured their organization’s continued support to the agency’s future endeavors.
